Overview of Kathmandu Chitwan Poon Hill Tour – 12 days
Kathmandu Chitwan Poon Hill tour is a complete tour cum trek plan rolled into the same deal. You will traverse through Kathmandu, Chitwan, and Pokhara – three ace tourist cities of Nepal. There is an added incentive of a grueling but memorable hike/trek to the Poon hilltop.
This unique tour starts from three primeval cities of the Kathmandu Valley tour- namely Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, and Lalitpur. You will take a history tour of old monuments, elaborate palaces, and prehistoric temples while on this plan.
The three durbar squares at the sister cities of Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, and Kantipur (the old name for Kathmandu) are top UNESCO world heritage sites. Likewise, visits to Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath, and Swoyambhunath Stupa are a holy experience for the ages.
The second phase will commence at Chitwan National Park (CNP), located in the Chitwan district which is directly south of the capital city.
The park houses celebrated one-horned rhinoceros, the feared royal Bengal tiger, near-extinct gharial, spotted leopard, wild boar, Asiatic rock python, multiple deer varieties, at least two bear species, and a plethora of other animals on the brink of extinction elsewhere.
A rustic boating experience in the calm Rapti river followed by a wild jungle safari inside the protected national park is something you will cherish for ages. The near-forgotten dance of the indigenous Tharu people is another memorable affair.
Our final foray includes trekking to alluring Poon Hill (3,210 m). We will board a tourist coach to Pokhara – the city of lakes – from Chitwan. A short but sweet drive to Nayapul from Pokhara will come before actual trekking.
Poon Hill is well known for its engrossing sunrise and sunset views over gigantic Himalayan peaks. You will see more than twelve big and small peaks including three peaks over 8,000 m in height – Dhaulagiri (8,167 m), Manaslu (8,163 m), and Annapurna 1 (8,091 m). Witnessing firsthand the rich flora-fauna variety of the Annapurna Sanctuary is worth a million tons of rich memory.

After exploring the surrounding areas, we will visit historical Kathmandu Durbar Square with temples, unique architecture, and Kumari (living goddess). Evening pre-trip discussion and introduction with our fellow trekking staff for your adventure trip.
Day 03: Patan and Bhaktapur Durbar Square sightseeing. 6-7 hours
Today, you will visit the other two cities of Kathmandu Valley – Patan (Lalitpur) and Bhaktapur. These two cities are also as rich in culture and tradition as Kathmandu. You will visit the Durbar squares and the surrounding temples and monuments in the two cities.
Patan has the Golden Temple, The Krishna Temple, The Bhimsen Temple, Batuk Bhairav Temple, and the Bangalamukhi Temple near Durbar Square. Bhaktapur has the Nyatapola Temple, the 55 windowed Palace, and the Dattatreya Temple Pottery square. and the beautiful pond named Siddha Pokhari near Durbar square.
Day 04: Drive to Chitwan National Park , by tourist bus. 5-6 hours of drive
After early morning breakfast, you will drive to Chitwan in a tourist bus. The journey takes about six hours. Chitwan is a paradise. It is home to the Chitwan national park – one of the model national parks in the world. This national park has won many international accolades for its effort in conserving the royal Bengal tiger and the one-horned rhinoceros.
Today, while you arrive at the final stop, our representative will pick you up and drive you to the hotel. Following lunch and a rest for a few hours, you will start a village walk. In this plan, you will visit the Tharu village museum and view the sunset park on the Rapti river.
Evening back to the hotel and Dinner. After dinner, we will show you a cultural Tharu dance and Music show. A good night’s sleep at your hotel.
Day 05: Full day Wildlife activities in Chitwan National Park.
Today you will enjoy a jungle excursion and other wildlife activities in Chitwan national park. You will also canoe in the river. Jungle safari is the highlight of today’s activities.
There are four options for jungle safari – walking inside the park with a licensed guide, safari on an elephant’s back, jeep safari, and boat safari. We recommend elephant safari for first-time travelers. Enjoy watching animals in their natural habitat.
While canoeing in the Rapti river for 30-40 minutes you will be able to see crocodiles, Gharials, many kinds of birds, etc.
You will take a jungle walk after canoeing and see many animals and birds in their natural habitat. Then this walk ends at the Elephant Breeding Center where you might gain knowledge about elephant history. The most beautiful thing about this place is that you can see baby elephants and play with them.
You will have the main safari (Elephant back Safari starts at about 3 pm and is about 2-3 hours in total). See wild animals including rhinoceros, wild boars, deers, luckily tigers and peacocks, etc.
Day 06: Morning activities and drive to Pokhara by tourist bus.
This early morning you will have a birdwatching plan. Then you will have breakfast and board a bus to Pokhara. The drive takes about five hours. You will follow the Gandaki river (Narayani) up to the place named Mugling.
The road to Kathmandu and Pokhara diverges from Mugling. The road to Pokhara passes past the Marsyangdi, Seti and the Bijaypur rivers. Pokhara is a city of Lakes. The remaining time of the day is free and at your disposal. Overnight at the hotel.

The path starts to go steeply up from here. You will follow the course of the Modi river during the trek. You will have lunch at Tikhedhunga, which lies at the bottom of Ulleri. We will then begin a one and half hour trek to Ulleri. This is a beautiful village up on a Hill from where you can see beautiful mountains. Overnight at lodge.
Day 08: Ulleri to Ghorepani (2,853m/ 9,360 ft), 4-5 hours of walk.
You will start your journey from Ghorepani early in the morning after breakfast. It takes about 4-5 hours to walk through dense Rhododendron forests for most of today’s trek. We will encounter a beautiful village called Banthati. As we continue our trek we will reach a village called Nangethanti.
Finally, you will reach Ghorepani after lunchtime. This village already welcomes you with some panoramic Mountain views of Dhaulagiri, Annapurna South, Nilgiri, etc. Overnight at lodge.
Day 09: Poon Hill hike (3,210 m) 2 hours and trek to Tadapani (2,630 m/ 8,628 ft), 6-7 hours of walk.
You will wake up very early at 5 am and head for Poon Hill. You need to reach Poon Hill before sunrise. The view of the sun rising over tall snow-clad mountains is heavenly from Poon Hill.
Mountains on view include Dhaulagiri (8167 M), Annapurna I (8091 m), Annapurna II, Annapurna III, Annapurna IV, Annapurna South, Nilgiri, Tukuche, and others.
You will spend a wonderful morning in Poon Hill and return back to our homestay. We will start trekking to Tadapani after breakfast. It takes about 4- hours uphill and downhill and again uphill to Tadapani. This villa is tiny but beautiful in the middle of the Rhododendron forest.
Day 10: Tadapani to Kimche Via Ghandrukand drive to Pokhara (823 m),4-5 hours of walk and 2 hours drive
We have a long day of the trek ahead. Normally the trek is broken down into two days – Tadapani to Ghandruk and Ghandruk to Kimche. However, we will cover the trek in a single day. We will not have much difficulty in doing so because we will be walking downhill today.
Ghandruk village is a large settlement of the Gurung people. The village is a vital recruitment center for the famous Gorkha Soldiers. Ghandruk is also famous for its Annapurna views. You will continue to walk to Kimche and have lunch. Take a vehicle drive to Pokhara for about 2 hours. Overnight at a hotel in Pokhara.
Day 11: Drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu (1,300 m/4,264 ft), 6-7 hours.
You will drive back to Kathmandu from Pokhara in a tourist bus. It takes about 6-7 hours. You will enjoy the beautiful hills and rivers along the way.
You also have the option of traveling by air. The time taken is much shorter – only 30 minutes – and you get a wonderful opportunity to view the mountain from up above. But you have to pay extra for the flight. Overnight at a hotel in Kathmandu
Day 12: Departure from Kathmandu.
Today is the day of your departure. We will bid you goodbye with a small traditional Nepali farewell ceremony. Our staff will drop you at the airport, from where you will head back to your home or next destinations. Or if you have more days you might have other options to do in Nepal.

Quiero destacar especialmente a Bharat y Samir. 🙏🏔️❤️ moagVerified One of my best experiences in nepal To be honest, this trek wasn't even my first choice when I started planning my nepal trip. After speaking with Shishir from ambition himalaya, I decided to give it a try, and I'm really happy I did. Looking back now, it was easily the highlight of my entire visit. The route was peaceful, the mountain scenery kept getting better every day, and standing beside the hidden alpine lake felt unreal after days of hiking. our guide was fantastic throughout the journey, always checking on everyone and sharing interesting stories about the places we passed. the tea houses were comfortable, everything was well organized, and I never felt rushed. If I return to nepal for another trek, Ambition Himalaya will definitely be the first company I contact DanielVerified 45 days in nepal and this was my favorite ,memory I've been traveling around Nepal for the last 45 days, and this trek easily became my favorite part of the trip. the mountains were incredible, but what really stayed with me was the kindness of the people. everywhere we stopped, locals greeted us with genuine smiles and made us feel welcome. I booked with ambition himalaya, and I'm glad I did. nothing felt rushed or overly planned. our guide knew when to chat and when to simply let us enjoy the silence of the mountains. walking into annapurna base camp after days on the trail was an unforgettable feeling, and it's a memory I'll carry home with me. MazamVerified Worth Every Step to Annapurna Base Camp I wasn't sure what to expect before starting the Annapurna Base Camp Trek, but it turned out to be one of the best trips I've done. The trails were beautiful, the villages felt welcoming, and the mountain views kept getting better each day. Our guide was excellent—always on time, easy to talk to, and happy to answer every question. He made sure everyone walked at a comfortable pace and stayed safe throughout the trek. The whole trip was well managed, and I never had to worry about anything. If you're thinking about doing ABC, I'd happily recommend this team. MdalVerified Every day on this trek was worth It I just finished the annapurna base camp trek, and I'm still thinking about the experience. every day felt different, with beautiful forests, quiet villages, and incredible mountain views along the trail. reaching base camp and seeing the mountains up close was a moment I'll never forget. I booked through ambition himalaya, and everything was well organized. Our guide was friendly, supportive, and always made sure the group was comfortable. I'd happily recommend this trek to anyone. RafqVerified An Unforgettable Manaslu Circuit Trek The 16day Manaslu Circuit Trek was an incredible experience from start to finish. The changing landscapes, peaceful villages, suspension bridges, and breathtaking mountain views made every day special. Crossing Larke Pass was challenging, but the feeling of reaching the top was unforgettable. Everything was organized exactly as promised, and I never had to worry about anything during the trek. A special thanks to Shishir from Ambition Himalaya, who answered all my questions before the trip and made sure everything was perfectly arranged. The guide was friendly, professional, and always supportive. This was a truly memorable adventure, and I would happily recommend Ambition Himalaya to anyone planning the Manaslu Circuit Trek in Nepal. MatthewVerified Manaslu Circuit Trek I spent around 2 months in Nepal (May–June) and completed the 16 days Manaslu Circuit Trek during this time, and I’m still staying here for 15 more days. The trek felt like real mountain life, walking daily through rivers, forests, suspension bridges, and remote villages where everything is very simple and slow. Tea houses were basic but warm after long tiring hikes, and locals were always kind and welcoming. The guide was very friendly and supportive throughout the journey, which made the whole experience easier and more enjoyable. Special thanks to Shishir, owner of Ambition Himalaya, for arranging everything so smoothly. The hardest part was Larke La Pass with cold wind and altitude, but the views were unforgettable. No luxury, just raw Himalayas, silence, and a real experience that stays in mind. הלל פינסVerified amazing annapurna base camp trek last month i completed the annapurna base camp trek with ambition himalaya treks & expeditions and it was my first trekking experience. everything went very smoothly from start to finish. mr shishir organized the trip very well and was always helpful. the people of nepal were kind and welcoming. i had a wonderful time and am planning to visit nepal again this october. highly recommended.. Timothe BVerified Best trek experience — highly recommend Ambition Himalaya We just completed the Annapurna Circuit with Ambition Himalaya and it was an absolutely perfect experience from start to finish. From the very beginning, Shishir was incredibly helpful in adapting our itinerary to fit our availability and adjusted both the trek and the pricing accordingly — without any hassle. That kind of flexibility and transparency made a huge difference. Our guide Bharat and porter Shyam were simply outstanding. Both were kind, attentive, and genuinely cared about our wellbeing throughout the entire trek. They always made sure we were comfortable, well-paced, and enjoying every moment. We couldn't have asked for better people to share this experience with. Everything went exactly as planned — and then some. As a bonus, we got to do Ice Lake, which wasn't originally part of our itinerary. It was an incredible, unexpected highlight that we'll never forget. I recommend Ambition Himalaya 100% without hesitation. If you're looking for a trustworthy, professional, and genuinely warm team to guide you through Nepal, look no further. I would not hesitate to trek with them again.
