Overview of Dhampus Sarangkot Trek – 3 Days
Dhampus-Sarangkot is a relatively easy trek in the periphery of Pokhara. It will take us to two villages – Dhampus and Sarangkot – in the northwest of Pokhara valley. Because of the moderate nature of the trek, it is also suitable for the elderly and young ones.
Dhampus and Sarangkot provide a wonderful view of the mountains in the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri range. These villages are mainly settled by the Gurung people. The Gurungs are keen agriculturalists. They rear animals and grow rice, millet, buckwheat, rye, etc. Their fields are also full of fruits.
They have a unique culture and lifestyle preserved in their exotic form for centuries. The main profession of the Gurung people, outside of agriculture, is joining the armed forces. They are world-renowned fighters.
Dhampus village is mostly placed with the Gurung community with the golden heart. People are always friendly to every visitor. Different tea houses and the lodging roof are available on the route and in the village too. So, there won’t be a problem staying at night.
However, when a guest enters their villages, they are very welcoming and friendly. It is the tradition of Nepalis to honor guests as gods. The Gurungs are known for their hospitality. Their food and drink are unique for a visitor’s taste buds. In the evening, they will provide us with a glimpse into their age-old culture through music and dance.
Trekking amid stunning views of golden rice terraces and the Annapurna Mountain range’s immense width has the best to offer. Sarangkot is a lovely village well renowned for its dawn, with an uninterrupted view of the Himalayan Mountains of the Annapurna range, Dhaulagiri range, Fishtail, as well as magnificent green hills, rice verandas, and an amazing view of Pokhara valley and Phewa Lake on a sunny and clear day.
With a day trip from Kathmandu to Pokhara, you can visit Sarangkot Dhampus. After a short drive from Pokhara, we begin our walk from Sarangkot Phedi. Sarangkot offers beautiful views of the Pokhara valley, Phewa Lake, and the snowy landscape.
The view of the Phewa lake and the Pokhara valley is stunning from Dhampus and Sarangkot. Equally mesmerizing is the sunrise and sunset view.

Trip Information
What to expect in Dhampus Sarangkot Trek?
Expect tranquility, nature, culture, massive mountainous views, and hypnotizing sunrise and sunset on our short Dhampus Sarangkot trek. After a short 30-minute scenic drive from Pokhara to Phedi, you will begin your trek to Dhampus.
Dhampus is a small town near Pokhara with the majority of Gurungs and Magars ethnic communities. Although the town is small, it has a lot to offer to its visitors, thereby attracting more and more travelers each day. You can have up-close views of the Annapurna mountain range along with Mount Fishtail, Mount Dhaulagiri, and several other Himalayan giants of Nepal.
Take in the astonishingly serene beauty when the sun dyes these mountains with its golden lights. The views are enough to keep you for hours in this small town.
A slow climb the following day will take you to the beautiful Sarangkot hill station. Known as the site for paragliding, you can observe numerous tourists flying like birds in the Sarangkot sky.
You will also get the opportunity to hike to Sarangkot View Point, from where you can have the gift of gigantic views of Mount Annapurna range. You will get to witness both the incredible sunrise and sunset over the Himalayas.
Not only beauty of Sarangkot and Dhampus will surprise you, but the route leading you to these remarkable villages will also mesmerize you. You will walk through the rhododendron forests, terraced rice fields, and paths adorned with the fluttering colorful prayer flags of Magars and Gurungs.
The culture and hospitality of these ethnic groups will greet you along your trekking trail. In short, this trek will make your trip to Nepal worthwhile.
Weather and Season in Dhampus Sarangkot Trek
Dhampus and Sarangkot are situated at an altitude of approximately 1600 m above sea level. Therefore, both of these remarkable villages are influenced by the subtropical climate throughout the year. The people of these hill stations enjoy a moderate temperature throughout the year.
Therefore, you can opt for this hike all year round without any difficulty. In addition, the region rarely receives any snowfall, avalanches, or extremely cold weather in the winter season. You can easily undertake this trek in December, January, and February.
However, in summer (June, July, and August), these regions can receive a heavy downpour of rainfall. So your hiking trails can be slippery, and muddy but the streams, and rivers will suddenly come to their full glory in this season. With adequate preparation, you can opt for this trek in the monsoon season as well.
However, most trekkers are involved in this trek to enjoy the breathtaking views of the Mountains and watch the dreamy sunrise and sunset. Therefore, the favorable
season for the Dhampus Sarangkot trek is spring (March, April, and May) and autumn (September, October, and November).
Spring is the pre-monsoon period, and autumn is the post-monsoon period. Both these transitioning time offers a clear view, sunny days, mild temperatures, pleasant weather, and fantastic views of the Himalayas. The trail will also be splendid with the rich flora and fauna of the region.
Dhampus Sarangkot trek Difficulty
The Dhampus Sarangkot trek is the easiest trek in Nepal that anyone can participate in -from children to elderly, from newbies to experienced hikers. The climb to Sarangkot and Dhampus doesn’t contain any hard trails. In fact, hiking to these two regions can be a good excuse to lose some calories.
Therefore, we encourage you to go on this trek if you are short on time in Nepal and want to explore the natural wonders of the country. The ascend to Sarangkot and Dhampus has only one negative aspect: a need to rise before dawn. If you wish to witness the first ray of sun blanketing the Himalayas, you need to get up early. From noon, the clouds may form and cover the mountains, and you may miss the opportunity to view the beautiful view. But the moment of sunset can be another option for you.
However, the simple route passing through the picturesque villages of Gurungs and Magars can make your effort of rising early worthwhile.

To participate in the Dhampus Sarangkot trek, you need to have:
- A valid passport with 6 months or more validity period

Download the filled form and present it at the airport with the fee. However, remember that this form is valid for 14 days only, so fill this form out online two weeks before your departure to Nepal.
If you are short of time and planning to spend only a week on this trek, a Nepal tourist Visa of 15 days duration is enough. Quiero destacar especialmente a Bharat y Samir. 🙏🏔️❤️ moagVerified One of my best experiences in nepal To be honest, this trek wasn't even my first choice when I started planning my nepal trip. The guide was friendly, professional, and always supportive. This was a truly memorable adventure, and I would happily recommend Ambition Himalaya to anyone planning the Manaslu Circuit Trek in Nepal. MatthewVerified Manaslu Circuit Trek I spent around 2 months in Nepal (May–June) and completed the 16 days Manaslu Circuit Trek during this time, and I’m still staying here for 15 more days. The trek felt like real mountain life, walking daily through rivers, forests, suspension bridges, and remote villages where everything is very simple and slow. Tea houses were basic but warm after long tiring hikes, and locals were always kind and welcoming. The guide was very friendly and supportive throughout the journey, which made the whole experience easier and more enjoyable. Special thanks to Shishir, owner of Ambition Himalaya, for arranging everything so smoothly. The hardest part was Larke La Pass with cold wind and altitude, but the views were unforgettable. No luxury, just raw Himalayas, silence, and a real experience that stays in mind. הלל פינסVerified amazing annapurna base camp trek last month i completed the annapurna base camp trek with ambition himalaya treks & expeditions and it was my first trekking experience. everything went very smoothly from start to finish. mr shishir organized the trip very well and was always helpful. the people of nepal were kind and welcoming. i had a wonderful time and am planning to visit nepal again this october. highly recommended..
