Overview of Classic Everest Base Camp Trek
Classic Everest Base Camp Trek is the King of all trekking in Nepal. It is a classic way to Mount Everest Base Camp is the highlight of this. The base camp of Everest is at an altitude of 5,365 m.
The itinerary of the trek is longer compared to an Everest Base Camp trek and an even shorter 12-day trek to the base camp of Mount Everest. This Everest Base Camp Trek Itinerary is designed to allow a day of sightseeing in Kathmandu Valley at the start of the trek and enough acclimatization opportunities.
The Classic Everest Base Camp Trek takes you to the Khumbu Valley. The Khumbu Valley where most of the trek takes place is home to the wonderful Sherpa people. Sherpas from these communities are all Buddhists. There are many monasteries in the Everest region like in Lukla, Phakding, Namache Pangboche, Tengboche, and Dingboche. Most of Everest Base Camp Trekking takes place along the banks of the Dudh Koshi River.
You will spot many species of endangered plants and animals during the trek. Impeyan Pheasant (Danfe), Snow Pigeon, Mountain Goats, Yak, and Snow Leopard are among the animals and birds encountered on the way. Rhododendron, Magnolia, and Giant Firs form a majority of vegetation.
The forests are dense green with temperate vegetation in the lower belt of the Everest Region. The middle belt possesses alpine vegetation and the final stages of the Everest Base Camp Trek are characterized by Tundra vegetation.
The Everest Base Camp Trek classic starts with a flight to Lukla from Kathmandu. We first walk to Namche Bazaar from Lukla. Namche Bazaar is also known as the gateway to Everest. We will part ways with trekkers on the Everest High Pass Trek and Gokyo Lake Trek from Namche.
The settlement is sparse as we head north from Namche. Ancient monasteries like Tengboche and Dingboche lie on our road to Everest Base Camp. The most thrilling part of the Everest Base Camp trek is the walk along the Khumbu glacier just before reaching the base camp of Everest.
Khumbu is one of the largest glaciers on the planet. Kala Patthar, meaning black rock, is at a higher altitude (5,545 m) than Everest and provides a stunning view of the nearby mountain peaks.
Route summary: Kathmandu – Lukla – Namche Bazaar – Tengboche – Everest Base Camp – Kalapatthar – Namche – Lukla – Kathmandu.

Travelling in Nepal with Shishir from Ambition Himalaya to enjoy and learn about their culture is a luxury and a privilege. It’s the third year in a row that we go to November to see the snowy Himalayas and we plan to come back in the next year 2026 with it too. DaanVerified Thanks Ambition Himalaya - Great trip, excellent guide, perfect weather, what more to expect! We booked the Everest View trek at Ambition Himalaya, a beautiful hike with the highlight of the view from the Everest View Hotel. The trip was excellently arranged by Ambition Himalaya, with good information in advance.Special thanks to our guide, Ganesh, who was tremendously helpful, and made the trip even easier, cozier and more beautiful! I would definitely recommend booking with Ambition Himalaya.Due to delayed flights in the days prior to our flight to Lukla unfortunately had one day delay. The arrangements that this entailed were picked up by our guide from Ambition Himalaya, including arranging an affordable overnight stay. SooVerified Enchanting Australian Base Camp, Dhampus and Sarangkot trek I recently went on a 3 day trek in Nepal in December 2025. We started from Kande village, trekked to Australian Base Camp then to Dhampus village and finally to Sarangkot village which overlooks Pokhara city.My guide was Shishir who is also the owner of the trekking company.Even though the trek was shorter and easier than the other popular treks like EBC and ABC treks, this short trek packed value for money. Along much of the trail we witnessed the astounding and breathtaking vistas of the mighty Annapurna range. We also trekked through pristine and beautiful villages and got to experience firsthand the diverse cultural heritage.Shishir notwithstanding being the owner of the trekking company was also a very experienced guide. He led me to explore a new, hardly trodden path from Dhampus to Sarangkot that maximized the view of the Annapurna range. This was the third straight year I had employed the services of this company. I had done the EBC trek in 2023 and the ABC trek in 2024.Shishir and his staff provided excellent and thoughtful service and you’re guaranteed to be well taken care of from the moment you arrive in Kathmandu till the time you depart from this magical country. eduardo bVerified Manaslu Trek Excellent experience! Communication with Shishir, the owner, was smooth and quick. The trek was great value for money. We were accompanied by Ghaman (guide) and Ghagam (porter). They were both professional and friendly, taking care of us throughout the entire trip. Highly recommended! Romina RVerified Gokyo-Ri Trekking Our 10-day trek to Gokyo Ri was an amazing experience from beginning to end. Everything was very good organized. Our guide was really thoughtful, attentive, and always willing to adapt to what we wanted. We felt safe and we enjoyed the time a lot.Every day was sunny, clear and beautiful, and the views of the Himalayas mountains were absolutely stunning. From the moment we arrived, everything was taken care of. We were given warm sleeping bags and jackets, and we also got help with exchanging money and organziing a Nepali SIM cardAt the end we received a T-shirt and a scarf on our departure day. This was lovely. We can wholeheartedly recommend this tour to anyone who loves trekking. It was an unforgettable memory. Marco AVerified Tour of the 3 Himalayan passes Trekking the 3 steps in the khumbu, well organized and with a guide named Ganesh very good and friendly, everything went for the best competitive price Rajesh RVerified Annapurna Base Camp Trek – A Truly Unforgettable Experience Our Annapurna Base Camp trek was an absolutely incredible journey, made even more special by the exceptional arrangements and care provided by Shishir and his amazing team. From the moment we landed in Kathmandu to the time we departed, every detail was perfectly managed.Shishir took care of everything — airport pickups, comfortable accommodations, seamless internal flights, trekking permits, experienced guides, and reliable porters. His attention to detail ensured that we could simply focus on enjoying the beauty of the Himalayas without worrying about logistics.A special mention goes to our guide, Ghamen, whose calm and thoughtful approach made the trek thoroughly enjoyable. He set a comfortable pace, was attentive to our needs, and intuitively understood our capabilities — allowing us to take in the stunning views without feeling rushed. His experience and patience made all the difference during the climb. We were also extremely grateful to our porters, Sham and Raju, who carried our loads with impressive efficiency and always greeted us with a smile. Their cheerful attitude and support added so much positivity to the entire journey. If you are planning a trek in Nepal, I wholeheartedly recommend Shishir and his team.
