Your adventurous quest to the Everest Base Camp begins early in the morning. Please inform us of the place of your stay so our guide and driver will be at your doorstep at 5: 30 am to take you to the domestic terminal of the International airport.
Please wear warm clothing with a down jacket, trousers, gloves, and sunglasses. We also advise you to carry your own water bottle and a handful of light snacks or dry food. It will take us around half an hour to reach the airport.
As we arrive at the airport, we will proceed to complete the formality to board on flight to Lukla. Ensure you bring your passport; the authorities will check your documents and body weight necessary for landing at Lukla.
After paying the fee for Sagarmatha National Park, we will now obtain our boarding pass and enter the main waiting hall of the airport. After the airport announces our flight time, we will proceed towards the helipad.
The pilot will brief us about the safety procedure, handling the doors, and getting in and out of the chopper. Please listen to the instructions carefully, and enter the helicopter from its front part.
If you are taking this trip in a group, please keep in mind that the seat arrangements will keep changing so each of the group members gets the opportunity to enjoy the view.
The exhilarating flight to Lukla begins taking approximately 45 minutes to land at the renowned Tenzing and Hillary Airport. The helicopter will first fly to the East rewarding us with gorgeous views of Mount Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, Langtang, and Dorje Lakpa.
Soon, we will be flying over the Lamjura-La Pass, 3,550 meters above sea level and we will get the first glimpse of Mount Everest and Lhotse. The pilot will now direct us to the North to land at the airport which is 2,820 meters above sea level.
We will stay at the airport for about 10 minutes to reserve fuel for the return trip and make the helicopter lighter for the climb to Everest Base Camp.
The chopper will now fly us above the majestic Khumbu region. Beneath, you can see the milky Dudh Koshi river flowing in its course and several other trekkers walking along the path shown by this remarkable river.
The terraced field, dense forests, the enchanting Sherpa villages, and residents engaging in their daily lives will add depth to your extraordinary expedition. After a short while, you will witness the blue-roofed houses and colorful market of Namche Bazaar.
We will now fly over Khumjung and Phortse with marvelous views of Mount Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam. Shortly, we will see the largest ancient monastery of Tengboche. We now pass over Pangboche and arrive at Pheriche situated 4200 m above sea level.
Note:
If we are flying in a group of more than 3 passengers, the pilot may decide to land at Pheriche to split the group in two so he can divide the weight of 250 kg or less. Then he will fly back and forth to fly one group first to Everest Base Camp and Kala Patthar and bring another group from Pheriche to Kala Patthar.
In the meanwhile, the group waiting can walk in Pheriche, enjoy its landscape dine at its lodge, and take some pictures.
We will now fly over the small village of Thukla and Lobuche which gives the grand views of Cho La Pass, Lobuche Peak, and Mount Pumori. Slowly, the gigantic Khumbu glacier comes into view with deserted Gorakshep beneath.
It’s time to fly over the famous Everest Base Camp, beneath we can see the cluster of colorful tents providing shelter to trekkers determined to conquer Mount Everest. We cannot land in the base camp as it is prohibited by the Nepal government due to the risk of avalanches. But you can clearly observe the beauty of Nuptse, Khumbutse, Ama Dablam, and Pumori apart from Everest.
Do not miss out on taking photos and videos of these incredible Himalayas. We will now fly to the prominent Kala Patthar. Along the way, the pilot will comment informing us about the villages we are passing, the trail toward the Everest Base Camp, and all the overnight stops. We will also have some awesome views of Mount Pumori, Changtse, and Lhotse.
After about 10 minutes, we will land at Kala Patthar (Black Rock) 5644 m above sea level where we will stay for 10 minutes forgetting ourselves among the best view of the grand mountains. Staying here for a long time can cause altitude sickness but we guarantee that this short 10 minute will be the most exciting moment of your life.
The pilot will not turn off the helicopter engine and will use oxygen support the entire time. If you have difficulty breathing, inform the pilot. We will now roam around this spiritual trail and click some photographs and videos.
Note:
If your group is split into two, the pilot will return to bring the other group waiting at Pheriche after you land in Kala Patthar.
After the magical moments in Kala Patthar, we will fly to the Everest View Hotel at Syangboche of Namche Bazaar. The highest luxurious hotel is located at an altitude of 3880 m above sea level.
We will stay at the hotel for about an hour to enjoy breakfast with a spectacular view of Mount Everest, Ama Dablam, Lhotse, and Nuptse. Breathe in the purest air and beat the chill with a nice cup of hot coffee.
Bidding farewell to the magnetic Himalayas, we will now fly back to Kathmandu with a probability of a brief stop at Lukla airport for refueling.
After landing at Kathmandu airport, we will then drive you back to your hotel. Recall the 4-hour journey you have just undertaken and congratulate yourself for completing your dream of seeing the mountain of mountains.

Our Everest Base Camp Helicopter Tour is possible all year round. However, the weather conditions on the day of the flight will be decisive. Spring ( March, April, May) and Autumn (September, October, November) are the most favorable seasons for enjoying the best view of the mountains. The perfect weather condition is the plus point of flying in these two seasons with lesser risk of flight delay and cancellation.
In summer (June, July, August) and winter (December, January, February), the morning can be cloudy and foggy respectively. But the rest of the day especially the winter days offers a clear blue sky. So the flight is possible with the unobstructed view of the Himalayas.
Our Everest Base Camp Helicopter tour is the easiest way to witness and feel the aura of the highest mountain on the planet with your eyes and your soul. If you are disabled, if you have any health issues, or if you do have not much time to enjoy a long vacation in Nepal but you have a desire to see Mount Everest, this tour is for you.
You will reach the Base Camp and observe the Himalayan beauties within 4 hours with no need to hike for long hours. Above all, there is no risk of suffering from altitude sickness on this tour. Some may feel slight difficulty breathing, in such case, you can inform your pilot who will provide you oxygen at once.
In order to prevent any risk of altitude sickness, we have set aside only 10 minutes of landing at Kala Patthar.
Regarding safety, we assure you our pilots are well-trained government-certified officials who have years of experience flying to Lukla and Everest Region. Helicopters used in the tour are strong enough to withstand unfavorable weather and strong wind.
We will begin our Everest Base Cam helicopter tour from the plain of Kathmandu elevated at 1300 m above sea level. From the international airport, we will then fly to Lukla located at 2820 m. The chopper will then take us over Everest Base Camp at 5364 m and we will land at Kala Patthar perched at 5545 m above sea level. When returning to Kathmandu, we will stop for an hour at Everest View Hotel nestled between the mountains at 3880 m above sea level.
In private tours, the weight of the helicopter will be much lighter therefore it can fly around Mount Everest, with a possibility of reaching an altitude of over 6300 meters.
Have you set out on a trekking journey to the Everest Base Camp but gradually feel you no longer can continue with trekking? Don’t want to give up the desire to see Mount Everest yet? Don’t worry, we have numerous options available for you.
We can pick you up from Lukla and fly you to Everest Base Camp and Kala Patthar. After having breakfast at Everest View Hotel, we can then fly you back to Kathmandu.
We can also pick you up from any village where there is a helipad, and fly you to Everest Base Camp. If you are at Namche, Tengboche, Pheriche, Lobuche, or Everest Base Camp, inform us and our helicopter will be there to drop you at Lukla, or Kathmandu.
Even if we are flying over the restricted region of Sagarmatha (Everest) and Khumbu, we have to obtain the required permits for this tour. Our package excludes the cost of these permits but the fees won’t put too much pressure on your wallet. Besides, the money collected from these permits is used for the development and livelihood of the people in the region.
We need Sagarmatha National Park costing us USD 30 per person and Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality entrance fee at USD 18 per person. These permits can be obtained at Everest View Hotel.
We don’t need to pack a lot for our 4-hour Everest Base Camp Helicopter route. Since you will experience vast temperature changes, we advise you to keep warm clothing as your top priority. On the day of your tour, please wear a warm windproof down jacket, warm trousers, sun hats, scarf, sneaker shoes, gloves, and sunglasses to protect your eyes.
We also advise you to apply good sunscreen cream and lip balm. Also, carry a water bottle and toilet paper and don’t forget about the camera, its well-charged batteries and mobile.
Through our Everest Base Camp Helicopter tour, you will have the opportunity to stand face-to-face with Everest and taste the atmosphere at its feet, in complete safety. You will reach the Everest Base Camp and observe the ongoing preparation of the trekkers embarking to summit Mount Everest.
You will also witness the outstanding views of several eight thousand meters high Himalayas including Nuptse, Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Changtse, and many more.
Landing at Kala Patthar, you will have 10 incredible moments to walk around and take some photographs. You will also have the chance to enjoy breakfast at the world’s highest deluxe hotel with precious mountain views all around.
Along the flight, you will also witness several cultural Sherpa villages with remarkable landscapes and views of the great legendary Tengboche Monastery.
If you are the one who wants to experience the splendor of Everest in more luxury, then you must go for a private tour. Although the cost may be higher, you will be the one to decide where you want to land and take photos. In addition, the helicopter will be much lighter so it can fly higher rewarding you with the greatest all-around view of the beautiful Khumbu region. The private helicopter tour to Everest Base Camp can cost USD 5000 to USD 6500 per trip.
However, group helicopter tour also has its benefits. It is much cheaper than the private tour as the expenses will be distributed equally among all the members. But you may have to exchange seats with fellow travelers to enjoy the best view. The price of a group tour with 5 members is USD 999 per person. The cost per person may increase if the group member is less than 5.
The cost of the group helicopter tour is also based on weight management. With a weight of up to 500 kg, the chopper can fly directly to Lukla. But with the gain in altitude of more than 4000 m, the helicopter can only carry a load of 250 kg.
Therefore, the pilot has to distribute weight by dividing the group into two with 3 and 2 people. Leaving one group at Pheriche, he will take the next group to Everest Base Camp and land at Kala Patthar. He will then fly back to Pheriche to bring back the waiting group at Pheriche to Kala Patthar. The continuous shuttle can cost more and is equally dispersed among the members.
